Joel Klein

 

Vancouver-based baritone Joel Klein is equally at home in opera, oratorio, art song and Broadway styles of singing.  Having recently completed his Artist Diploma at the Vancouver Academy of music studying under David Meek, Joel also holds a Bachelor of Music (Opera) from UBC, and a Music Performance Diploma from Calgary 's Mount Royal College Conservatory. He has performed opera throughout Western Canada and in Europe, playing such roles as Nardo in Mozart's Die Gärtnerin aus Liebe, Marco in Gianni Schicchi by Puccini, Dr. Falke in J. Strauss Jr’s operetta Die Fledermaus, Pandolfe in Massenet's Cendrillon, and Schaunard in Puccini's La Boheme.  Frequently engaged as a soloist for oratorio work, he is particularly in demand for Handel's Messiah, and has performed with organizations such as the Handel Society and Abbotsford Symphony, as well as the Pacific Symphony, Vancouver Bach choir and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
