Don Alfonso, an old cynic, is determined to prove to his two young friends, Guglielmo and Ferrando, that their fiancees are not to be trusted; they are like all women. Alfonso lays his plot and tells the sisters that their lovers have been sent off to war; then he introduces them to two Albanians, Guglielmo and Ferrando in disguise. Will the women succumb to the Albanians advances? In a hilarious production from Burnaby Lyric Opera, Mozart meets Gossip Girl as the action plays out in a modern-day sorority house. Arias and quartets mix with Facebook and texting and we discover that the ecstasy and folly of love is the same now as in 1790.
